Our Analyst Training Programme
We recruit passionate people who will thrive in our creative environment, challenge accepted views, and grow into outstanding leaders at Terra Firma.
Terra Firma’s Analyst Training Programme provides unrivalled exposure to the private equity industry at a graduate level, as our analysts learn directly from the firm’s senior leadership team.
In the words of Guy Hands, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer, the programme looks to find and develop the firm’s “Partners of the future”.
Analysts complete rotations with the Partners and Managing Directors, gaining direct exposure to the deal environment, portfolio businesses, and our investor relations, finance and legal functions.
Our Analysts come from a variety of backgrounds, but all share the skills, attitude and drive required to be not just exceptional Analysts, but outstanding long-term leaders at Terra Firma.
We are proud that over 75% of the Principals on the Deal Team initially joined the firm through the programme.
Our ideal candidate:
Intellectual curiosity: We are seeking people who are naturally inquisitive. The people who flourish here
have a variety of extracurricular activities and experience that showcase a range of interests and a curiosity in the wider world.
Mental agility: At Terra Firma, you are exposed to a variety of business areas through the rotational programme. You should be able to analyse a large amount of information and translate it into actionable insights, then understand how those actions will impact the direction of a business.
Flexible and reactive: There will be diversity in the work you do at Terra Firma, whether in terms of the sectors that we invest in or in your day-to-day responsibilities, so you’ll need to be ready to adapt.
Demonstrable interest in the wider industry: As an Analyst, it is important that you are critically aware of the financial industry’s movements, as well as events in current affairs or politics that may affect our decisions.
Collaborative in your approach: A deal is the result of the hard work of many people – you must be able to operate well in a team and understand the role you play in driving results.
Sustained drive: We look for individuals who are focused on going above and beyond to achieve results. You will need to be resilient in the face of setbacks, able to learn from mistakes and have the determination to to exceed in the long-term.

Employee Training and Development
We ensure our staff have the skills they need to create value in our businesses. Our training and development programme is designed to ensure that our people have the skills they need to help our business achieve its strategic goals.
As part of their induction programme, all new analysts spend substantial time with the firm’s senior executives to ensure they have a good understanding of Terra Firma and how it operates.
The nature of the professional training within Terra Firma is broad, depends on the development needs of the individual and can include both technical and soft-skills based training.
We encourage our staff to take responsibility for their own personal and professional development. That development can take many forms such as on-the-job coaching, counselling and job enrichment, as well as formal training programmes, courses and professional qualifications.
Our sponsorship programme helps those wishing to gain recognised professional qualifications and Terra Firma has a policy of supporting employees in pursuing qualifications that help their work and career development.
