A Union's View

"Social responsibility is the key to Deutsche Annington's success"

“Our trade union, TRANSNET, has been working alongside Deutsche Annington since the sale of the railway’s housing companies to Deutsche Annington in 2000. TRANSNET had strongly opposed the original privatisation of the railway flats in 2000 because of concern over the subsequent treatment of the portfolio and - in particular – the tenants.

Tenant protection rights, Deutsche Annington’s obligations and agreements on rental increases and modernisation are set out in a Housing Welfare Contract, and Deutsche Annington has complied with all these provisions reliably.

TRANSNET and Deutsche Annington promote a culture of open dialogue. We work together pragmatically and constructively and issues are always resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved. Boards, local advisory councils and the tradition of communicating directly about contentious issues have been the key to many years of successful collaboration.

Social responsibility has been the key to Deutsche Annington’s success.”

Andreas Müller,
Director TRANSNET, the German railway trade union.
